From 1948, Volkswagen only concentrated on manufacturing and marketing the Volkswagen Beetle, which gave the company much success. The company though has introduced other models but these were not able to match the success that the Beetle has been getting. By 1973, however, after producing and selling about 16 million Beetles, Volkswagen started thinking of another car model as the car has become outdated.
