Last week I received a telephone call from a woman who could not stop crying as she told me that one of my stories had saved her son from committing suicide. In closing she called me “a hero.” That got me to thinking about what a hero really is. Was I a hero because I pulled a family from a burning car? If so, how could I be a hero just because I wrote a story that saved someone’s life? Today I decided to look up the word “hero” in the dictionary to see exactly what it meant. It read “A person who does something brave.” As I read on it also said “A person who is good and noble.” That statement impressed me more than did the part about being brave. That got me to thinking about something very important. Say I was walking into the local Wal-Mart Store and I happened to open, and hold the door for someone as a courtesy. As they passed me by, I say “How are you today?” Most of the time that would be no big deal, but this time lets say it was for someone who is deeply depressed and near the end of the rope. That may have very well be the only kindness or courtesy show to them in a very long time. Having been near the “end of my rope,” after my marriage of twenty years ended, I was in such a condition. I was within hours of trying to get up enough nerve to end the pain and misery. When I returned home someone had sent me a card in the mail which told me how much they appreciate me as a friend. That wonderful card probably saved my life. That person, without even knowing it, saved a life and became a hero. I went on to write many stories which last week saved the life of a teenage boy. In turn that makes the person who sent me the card a double hero. I suppose that is why I fight so hard to help the children now living in orphanages. Most children come out of these institutions with a very hard and vindictive attitude against the world. The gifts we send them let them know that they have not been forgotten. Hopefully, most of them will never hurt anyone because of the kindness shown to them by those of us who cared. If it works we will also become “heroes.” Gee, who would have every thought that anyone can become a hero, and possibly save a life, just by being kind and courteous to others? The best part of all is that becoming a “hero” is free to all who wish to wear such and honor.

He told me that he felt as though he was always running into insurmountable obstacles in his life and he wondered if this was a feng shui problem related to the location. I made a number of suggestions, but he wasn't enthusiastic about any of them. Finally I asked him, 'What do the bricks represent to you?' He stopped for a moment before saying, 'They represent stability and strength to me.' i then suggested that he recruit the brick wall to support him, to be a source of stability and strength in his life. I encouraged him to offer thanks to the wall for bringing these qualities to his life. he later told me that almost immediately from the time he began to do this, his fortunes turned around. He had recruited the wall as an ally to help him reach his dreams.Communicating with Your ObjectsWhen you first begin to use intuitive methods, they can seem strange or even bizarre. However, when you buy something for your home because it intuitively 'feels" right, you will almost always gain more joy from it than from something you logically decided was best for your home.Susan engaged in a 'conversation' with an old rocking chair that she was thinking about buying at a flea market. The rocker 'told' her that it had spent many happy years in a large family. Susan saw an image of a child pulling it out to a spot under a big willow tree in teh garden on a hot summer day. She said that these associations with teh rocker made her feel good about bringing it into her home. After doing so, seh asked it where it would like to be placed. The rocker 'chose' a sunny corner next to a south facing window. As eccentric and madcap as this method sounds, Susan said that using her intuition regarding the furniture and objects in her house brings a special energy into her home that wasn't there when she relied on her logical mind for domestic purchases.Using Intention With Feng ShuiIf you want to use feng shui to change your life, it's important to work from the inside out. For example, just putting a bowl of nine goldfish in your home ( a traditional fengu shui wealth cure) will not make you wealthy if you have a deep subconscious belief that rich people are unhappy. Because of a subconscious fear of being prosperous, you will continue to sabotage your efforts to increase your finances. However, if you begin by releasing your inner blockages, then you can use feng shuit to reinforce yoru new direction and create magic in your life.Also, combining your intention with a feng shuit cure magnifies its effect. The human psyche responds to symbolic acts. If you put one goldfish in your home with the absolutely clear intention that your abundance level will expand because of this action, your changes of being successful are dramatically higher than someone who puts fifty goldfish in their homewithout much thought and who only hopes they may become more prosperous.
