A Little Known Way to Eliminate Cradle Cap What is Cradle Cap? It's troubling when your beloved little baby unexpectedly develops cradle cap! Although it is not very attractive, cradle cap is a very common yet harmless scalp condition found in perfectly healthy newborn babies. So take a breath parents and don’t fret! Cradle cap is like baby dandruff. It can develop between two weeks to three months after birth and may last from a few weeks to up to a year. Your baby cakes may have to put up with it for a time, however cradle cap usually clears up on its own with proper care. Cradle cap is a condition created when a newborn’s oil-producing scalp glands become over-active as a result of hormonal changes. This can produce mild cases that look like flaky dandruff to more thick, crusty yellow patches on the scalp, the ears, and/or the eyebrows.   Although some parents swear by using mineral oil or petroleum jelly, these products can worsen the condition by clogging the pores of your baby’s skin. Mineral oil is a common ingredient used in baby skin care products; however, did you know that it is produced as the byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil! Most pediatricians specializing in natural skin care warn parents to avoid “petroleum” jelly, which traps moisture against the skin and is also a common allergen!Baby Skin Care Tip For Cradle Cap Parents, here’s your best common sense tip: Frequent, gentle shampooing is the best way to control the condition until it disappears naturally.  Natural massage oil can be used to gently massage the scalp and remove the crusty scales. Do this with a soft toothbrush several times per week, let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes, and then gently comb out the flakes.  Follow up with a mild, natural baby shampoo. You can recognize a good natural hair care baby shampoo by what it does not contain: synthetic fragrances, artificial colors, highly allergenic and irritating preservatives including quaternium 15, imidazolidinyl urea, and parabens. To our dear sweet Kaya, Hi baby girl. At this time you're moving around in my belly. Seems like you're trying to find a comfortable spot. I'm sorry if it's alittle uncomfortable these days in there for you but you won't remember it anyway. At this point we are 40 weeks pregnant with you. We've had a couple estimated due dates for your. The first was June 22nd, and after an ultrasound it was June 20th.  Well, Today is the 22nd and at this time.. You're not here. However, You have been quite the sassy baby!  I've had contractions since Thursday of last week (one week ago!) and regular contractions since Friday of last week!  We went to the hospital at one point because they actually went to 5 minutes apart for a bit. It turned out that I was only about 1 1/2 cm dilated and came back home. Your bother Ashton actually cried when we had to come back home because he was so hoping to meet you that night or the next day!  We had an appointment with our midwife on Tuesday.. and still.. Not much changed.  Still dilated 1 1/2 cm.  The last 24 hours I've had contractions that were alittle more heavy feeling and today I lost the mucus plug which means that something is happening. You could be here in hours, days or weeks. I'm hoping it's not weeks!  You're family is here waiting for you and anxious for your arrival.  Your Dad can not wait to hold you and your bother can not wait to see your face! I've reminded both of them that I get to hold you first since I'm giving birth to you! Giggle. At this time I believe you might be here this weekend. I'm hoping I'm right. We're so ready for you!  We've been dreaming of your arrival for months now.  Wondering what you look like and looking forward to getting to know our little girl.  Also, I'm alittle uncomfortable these days with you in there!  I'm swollen with water weight, I've gained almost 60 pounds, which means I'm now almost at 200 pounds! Eek!  I'm sure that will make you laugh someday! I've also broken out in an itchy rash as of recently. So as you can imagine.. I welcome your arrival in many ways! Our friends and family have been calling daily to see if you are here yet!  It's gotten to the point where everyone is so excited for you that we actually put a message on our telephone voicemail saying "Hi, You've reached Jake and Lisa, Leave a message.  There is no news yet!" Once you're born we'll call everyone and update the message to.. "Yay, She's finally here!".  Giggle. Everyone is so excited to meet you and see your little face! Things you should know about my pregnancy with you: We became pregnant with you two weeks after our wedding day. Our wedding day was Sept, 17th, 2005. We found out we were pregnant on Oct. 12th, 2005. Your father talks to you alot through my belly.  You love it. One minute your kicking around like crazy and once you hear him talk you calm down to listen to him.  We love that.  He also rubs my belly alot and when we hit your butt you stick it out as far as you can so you can feel it more.  You love to have back and butt rubs while you're in the belly. We've figured out that you're alittle ticklish already too.  You'll stick out a foot and we'll try to tickle it and you'll kick at us hard and move right away. We get a big laugh out of that.  We love to see you move around and do things. When we had our ultrasound at 18 weeks with you we found out you were a girl. We were overjoyed! We had a name picked out already for you... Kaya Ellen. You're named in part after my mother/your grandmother Kay.. and Ellen was the name of your Dad's sister who passed away at birth. Your name has alot of meaning for us. If you were a boy we were thinking that we'd call you Silas, Orren, or Akai. I really like the name Akai. While at the ultrasound we got to see you and we have photos.  But the first thing that caught our eye was that you slept with your hands under your chin which is exactly what your Daddy does when he falls asleep on the couch!!!  It's too cute! We loved seeing that!  We have tons of photos of you in my pregnant belly in a photo book. You'll have this someday. our families through two baby showers for you and we got tons of really nice things for you. Lots of clothing and just about everything else we needed for you.  We all love you very much already and we haven't met you yet! Well, I will write more as time goes on. We hope to see you very soon and know you're loved very much! With Love, Your Mother - Lisa
